Insurance agents & advisers in Singapore: Meet the people who already asked for you

A friend passes on your number. A client's colleague messages you on Instagram. You're halfway through a fact-find, so the reply waits until tonight. We answer every enquiry in seconds with your name and rep number, book the first meeting, and keep your clients' reviews on the calendar. Nothing goes out until your firm has approved it.

Where a rep loses clients

The WhatsApp that waits until after the meeting. Someone you were referred to asks if you can look at their cover. You're with a client for the next two hours. By the time you reply, the referral feels less warm, and they've asked someone else too.

The friend who dodges your "catch-up". People in Singapore say it plainly: they avoid the coffee invite that turns into a pitch. So the warm market you started with gets quieter every year.

The list that earns a PDPC warning. Bought leads and number lists look like a shortcut. PDPC has already warned a financial adviser who generated phone numbers in a spreadsheet and had a telemarketer call them. Hundreds were on the Do Not Call Register.

The client who hasn't had a review. MoneySense tells people a good rep checks in from time to time. When years pass with no call, a client starts to feel like a policy number. Then a newer rep gets the conversation about their next plan.

The post still waiting for compliance. You wrote it on Sunday. Your firm has to check it first, and a rushed version that skips the risks can't go out at all. So most weeks, nothing gets posted.

How Singapore clients pick a rep

Read what people in Singapore say about choosing an agent or adviser, and the same five things come up.

01A rep number they can checkCPF and MoneySense both tell people to check you on MAS's register before going further.
02Upfront about why you're meetingA "let's catch up" that turns into a sales pitch is the complaint they repeat most. They'd rather you just say it.
03Time to thinkCPF warns people about pressure to decide on the spot and about limited-time offers. A rep who gives them room stands out.
04Advice that fits themPeople who met an agent at a roadshow say the agent cared more about the signature than their needs. They stay with the one who listened.
05Someone who checks in laterA review when life changes: a new baby, a new job, a home loan. MoneySense calls it the last step of the advice process.
Referrals, honesty and follow-up. That's what clients say they want, and it's what a busy rep runs out of time for.

What MAS found when it sent mystery shoppers

MAS doesn't only write rules for reps. It tests them. In its last published mystery shopping exercise, it sent shoppers to 500 representatives from 6 life insurers and 6 FA firms, from mid-2018 to the end of 2019, and recorded every sale.

01Most advice was suitable88% of recommended products were suitable, up from 70% in MAS's 2011 exercise.
02Referrals did better than roadshowsSales closed at roadshows had more unsuitable products, and more gifts and incentives swaying the decision, than sales from customer referrals.
03Fact-finds were often thinMany reps didn't collect detailed information on the shopper's finances, though most got enough to recommend something suitable.
04Vulnerable customers were missedMost reps didn't spot when a shopper was a vulnerable customer.
What we take from it: the people who come to you by referral are your best ground. Being easy to reach, quick to reply and clear about who you are is how you keep that ground.

The rules your marketing has to follow

Since 25 March 2026, MAS's Guidelines on Standards of Conduct for Digital Advertising Activities apply to your firm and everyone who markets for it: you, as a representative, and any agency you use. In May 2026 MAS also set out changes to the advertising rules, which apply nine months after the updated rules are issued. Here's what that means in plain words.

Your marketing can't
✕Go out before your firm approves itProduct ads already need approval from your firm's senior management or the people they choose. MAS has said ads for your services will need it too.
✕Hide who you areMAS has said ads on your own accounts must show your representative number, so people can check you on the register. Reposting your firm's ad counts as advertising for it.
✕Show the upside and leave out the risksEvery post has to be balanced on its own. Putting the risks on another page doesn't fix it, and past returns need a clear line that they don't predict future ones.
✕Repost a client's praise as a casual shareMAS says re-posting a testimonial or endorsement is advertising, and your firm answers for it.
✕Pretend to be someone else to find leadsMAS has named catfishing on social media as a practice it has seen and wants stopped.
✕Pay someone yourself to find you leadsMAS says only financial institutions may appoint introducers, and digital lead generation counts. Representatives can't make those deals.
✕Call or WhatsApp a list you bought or madeEvery number needs a Do Not Call check or the person's clear consent. WhatsApp counts.
✕Canvass in the street or door to doorBoth stay banned. Roadshows will be limited to set areas in commercial premises.
Your marketing can
✓Reply to anyone who askedPDPC says answering a person's own request for information isn't a marketing message under the Do Not Call rules.
✓Keep in touch with your current clientsAn existing account counts as an ongoing relationship under PDPC's rules, so a review message about their own policies fits. Check first that your firm agrees.
✓Market to a company, for the companyA message about staff cover sent to a business's own number is business to business, which the Do Not Call rules exclude.
✓Use templates your firm has already approvedMAS points to pre-approved templates as one way firms can keep their reps' ads in line.
Why this matters to us: MAS treats an agency that markets for you as one of your firm's digital marketers. So every script and template we write for you goes to your firm's compliance team before it's used. It carries your rep number and your firm's name, it never gives advice, and it never messages anyone who hasn't asked to hear from you or been checked first.

08 / FAQ

Questions insurance agents and advisers ask

Does my firm need to approve this?

+

Yes. Your firm answers to MAS for marketing done for it, including by an agency like us. So we send every script and message template to your compliance team first, and nothing goes live until they've approved it.

Will it give financial advice or quote premiums?

+

No. Advice is your job, under your licence. It answers simple questions like who you are and how a first meeting works, and passes anything about products, premiums or someone's own cover to you with the full chat.

Does it show my rep number?

+

Yes, in the first reply. MAS has said ads on a rep's own accounts must show the rep number, and people are told to check you on the register anyway. It helps them trust the reply.

Can I message my clients about a policy review?

+

Your current clients, yes, about their own policies. An existing account counts as an ongoing relationship under PDPC's rules. Anyone else needs their clear consent or a Do Not Call check first, and your firm approves the wording.

I've moved to a new firm. Can I message my old clients?

+

Ask your new firm's compliance team first. Those clients' records usually belong to the firm they bought through, and the ongoing relationship may sit with that firm too. Revived. only uses a list your firm agrees you can use.

Can you buy leads for me, or run a lead campaign?

+

No. MAS says only financial institutions may appoint introducers, and digital lead generation counts as introducing. We work with people who already came to you: referrals, enquiries and your own clients.

Will people think they're talking to a bot?

+

It writes in your tone and answers the actual question. If someone asks, it says it's your booking assistant and offers to pass them to you.

Can it answer my calls while I'm with a client?

+

Yes, with Answered. It picks up, books or moves the meeting, and sends you a summary. Product questions and complaints come to you.

Do you guarantee more clients?

+

No one can honestly guarantee that. You'll see the numbers yourself: enquiries answered, meetings booked, reviews brought back.

What does it cost?

+

Booked. is S$997 a month, month to month, with message usage on top. Reps and teams of one to five can check if they qualify for a scholarship. Answered. is quoted on the call. Heard. starts with one free test call.
